Several students from Penn State came out to Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School as part of Spring UP Day to work on grounds and gardens projects that have been waiting patiently for a sunny day. ![]() Penn State students Shannon Aippersbach, Devon Beekler, Zach Demascole, Brian Farrell, Abby Hudak, Karlie Hudock, Alex Kirk, Sammi Layu, Chris Miller, Deanna Moschitta, Elizabeth Thorwart, and Heather Wolfe worked on a variety of landscape projects with Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners Katie Frieden, Cassandra Godbey, Carol Phillips, Susan Bowser, and Penn State's Don Hassinger. Mulching, weeding, planting and other needed gardening projects were completed. ![]() At Boogersburg One-Room Schoolhouse, Penn State students Chantelle Barndt, Jonathan Basso, Paul DeVito, Leah Grosso, Rich Meharey, and Virginia Pommerening worked with CCHS's Sharon and Eric Childs, Mary Sorensen, and Penn State's Todd Dobson to remove brush, mulch, weed and other general grounds work. Heartfelt thanks from all of us at the Centre County Historical Society for your hard work and all that you accomplished on Sunday. And a special thanks to Jeff Dice and Lloyd Rhoades for organizing Spring UP Day. Many hands are needed to keep the grounds at the Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School looking their best and service days are such an important and enjoyable part of this effort!
